individual sport psych sessions

These sessions are focused on improving athletic performance. We spend the first session evaluating your needs through discussion and completion of assessment measures, as applicable. This data is used to develop an individualized performance improvement plan that can be short- or long-term in nature.

I work with athletes ages 18+ across various competitive levels, and I specialize in working with collegiate student-athletes. I meet with athletes in person (my office) or virtually (if located in ND or MN).

typical targets

  • More consistently being the person and athlete you want to be

  • Learning skills to effectively respond to your thoughts and emotions

  • Growing from and bounce back from difficult performances or failure

  • Using sport psychology tools to improve performance in sport and life

TEAM SPORT PSYCH SESSIONS

These sessions are tailored to the needs of each group or team. This can include, but is not limited to team mental skills training, captains' meeting, and new player/freshman meetings. I work with coaches to understand the needs of the team and incorporate the coaching staff as appropriate.

athlete mental health

Athletes are human and not immune to mental health difficulties including stress, anxiety, ADHD, or depression. Because many mental health difficulties begin by age 24, it is important to be proactive in addressing the mental health and well-being needs of collegiate student-athletes.

Mental health services consist of individual therapy to provide you with tools to manage mental health issues. Because mental health difficulties can impact performance, we may also discuss the intersection of mental health and sport performance.

I provide mental health treatment exclusively to collegiate student-athletes. Appropriateness for virtual sessions (for those located in ND or MN) will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

typical targets

  • Balancing multiple roles (e.g., student, athlete, friend, partner)

  • Learning cognitive-behavioral tools to decrease stress and mental health difficulties

  • Effective interaction with self-talk

  • Learning skills to manage difficulties resulting from mental health symptoms

Please note that I have a very limited clinical practice (most of my current work is in performance psychology & program developement), and it is possible that I will refer you to one of my talented colleagues who has experience working with athletes.
